Lindsay Tedder Artist
I am a South African artist living in Cape Town.
I studied Graphic Design, but painting has always been my passion. I studied part time at the Ruth Prowse School of Art and have participated in many art workshops.
I started drawing and painting at a young age and have always been fascinated by the sea. I spent most of my childhood holidaying up the West Coast where I fell in love with its rugged, desolate beauty. I would sit and watch the sea for hours, the tides rising and falling, the waves crashing on the beach, the colours reflecting on the water. I try to capture that energy in my paintings.
My inspiration comes from the things I see around me. Kids playing, the sea, mountains, interesting objects and the human body.
I mainly use oils but I love experimenting with different mediums and textures.
My main influences are the impressionists, Van Gogh and Monet. I just love their loose brush strokes and the vibrant colours.
I carry a sketch book with me wherever I go, so I can quickly capture a scene or idea, to recreate later, in my studio.
Art is my life, a continuous force within me that feeds my soul.
If I’m not in my studio, you will find me on the beach or in a field somewhere, painting.
I am available for commissions, so please leave a message, and I will get back to you.
